We have a 2007 Galaxy 2.0 TDCI which my wife is running less than a mile to work twice a day, yes I know she should walk, but now she has become a free bus service for the neighbours and their kids !

Obviously two short journeys a day like that is not great for any car, never mind a diesel with a DPF but I am not sure if it has one, never seen any DPF lights on the dash, never been aware of it doing any regen type activity.

So, I am not sure if it has one, can anyone confirm how to tell, I could have a look underneath but to be honest I dont fancy rolling round on the damp freezing floor !

Does it produce big clouds of black smoke when you start it up? If not, it has a DPF. smile

We've got a late model (56 plate, built in 2007) Galaxy 2.0TDCI.

I'm actually not sure if it does have a DPF or not, I'd be interested to know too!

It's a bit [very] daft that a car designed for ferrying kids about the place would self destruct by only been driven on shorter journeys. Ours gets a good run out at least a couple of times a month and so far it seems to run and drive spot on.

Don't they still make petrol ones too? If so it doesn't seem that unreasonable that the one designed for high mileages isn't very good at short journeys.
