V8 Supercars Phillip Island: Time For Tea?

One of the best race finishes you'll ever see from the 2002 V8 Supercars season

Of course with that standfirst you will no doubt skip straight to the end of this video to see what happens. But set aside 10 minutes if you can to watch the whole clip if you can, it's brilliant.

After Sean's assessment of V8 Supercars in Motorsport on Monday we had to feature a classic vid from the championship. Y'know, a reminder of the good old days. It's an absorbing video, a classic Holden v. Ford duel at a beautiful circuit. The racing is (mostly) clean and close and tense, the outcome fairly unpredictable too.

All the while the action is accompanied by the most fantastic V8 soundtrack, every car thundering around the circuit making a noise that will make you smile. If V8 touring cars are perhaps in their last few years they will be sorely missed. Thank goodness for the hours of races on YouTube!

Enjoy the vid.

Odd choice, 12 years on and it's better than that.

Among the thousands and thousands of door to door, 2 wheels in the air, 4 wheels in the air, huge drifting, three abreast at 170mph clips that could be have taken from almost any V8 Supercar race that one wouldn't have been my pick.

Here you go smile

How about the legendary 427 Monaro driven by Greg Murphy?

You're all wrong I'm afraid smile

If you want the essence of V8 Supercars and Australian Touring Car racing from day dot, its been about rivalries.

Next year we have the return of possibly one of the dirtiest drivers the series has ever seen in my opinion, after a NASCAR career that can best be described lack-lustre. Marcus Ambrose. If he has a competitive car, it will be an interesting (and expensive) season.

That's a good one, cheddar. V8 Supercar Highlights - Airtime! biggrin
Bon Jovi (nearly) ruins it for me.

There's no need for music songs in the motoring videos! rage

Well he didn't disappoint, only took him 10 minutes into his return to V8 Supercars to bin it at last weekend's Sydney 500 thumbup

Met Ambrose at NSACAR a few years back, seemed like a nice guy in public but no doubt it's all different on the track.

Anyhow, in that clip, did anyone catch Barry Sheene doing the post race interview. This would have been just prior to his cancer diagnosis I suspect.
He was becoming a popular presenter on Channel 7's coverage of the racing here in Australia.
