Need a New Car, What should I buy?
Discussion
Hi There,
I joined to get some opinions on different cars. I love my cars and really enjoy going for a drive but I've never really had a proper drivers car.
I started with the first Mercedes A Class and then moved on to the next model after which was rubbish. I then made my way over to a C 200 CDI which was my work horse. I bought a CLK 220CDI which I loved to pieces but it really had no guts but I loved my CLK. I found a great CLK 320 CDI and bought it 2 years ago. I love driving it! The power compared to what I was used to really excited me and to be fair I still love driving it now.
My only qualm with it is that I have my 220 for so long that I think I got a little bored with the interior and the way it feels. I have had a mercedes ever since I began driving and think I need a different feeling driving experience. I recently test drove the Porsche Boxster S, the new Cayman S and the SLK 55. I really thought I would be shocked by the speed of the cars but ended up feeling a little underwhelmed by it. Most likely because my CLK has so much get up and go since I had it remapped and it achieves a 0-60 in 6 seconds flat and has huge amounts of torque once the turbo kicks in. Even the SLK 55 felt the same as my CLK, sure it was faster but it just felt very Mercedes.
The Boxster S was nice, I would love it but only the latest shape, I don't like the old models looks. The engine sound is great but nothing like the AMG.
Now the two biggest reasons for wanting a new car is Turbo lag and the fact it's a diesel. I think it's time to go back to a good old petrol engine.
What suggestions would you recommend?
I'm off to try the Mercedes CLA45 and a Porsche 997 Carrera S on Sunday but I'm open to anyone's opinion on what would make an excellent new car.

Any restrictions (price? power? seats? ....mpg?)
Judging from your post it has to be German..?
I do admit I have a thing for German type cars. I don't really have a massive price, I'm happy to go to almost £60k if I have to for the right car. I really want to find that car that rockets off the line and makes you feel like a kid again. Judging from your post it has to be German..?
