Recently Audi/VW, BMW and Mercedes seem to be hell bent on filling every niche possible, some successfully, some less so. One which none of them seem to have covered is the 2dr Coupe version of the 4 dr Coupe.

I'm thinking on the lines of a 2dr A5 Sportback, 2dr A7, 2dr Merc CLS and 2dr Passat CC. All of which I feel would make very elegant GTs.

I personally think there are plenty of models in the ranges already. If they thought there would be demand for it I'm sure they would have done it by now. People will buy A5 cabs, 6 series, E Coupe, 4 series Gran coupes, M cars and AMG's

Don't encourage them.

I think Mercedes are the worst for this.

The GLA is just a bizarre creation.

A 2 door Panamera would be a great 928 replacement, would it not?

I remember this was rumoured in the press not long after the Panamera was introduced. Would have been nice had it appeared as it was as gorgeous in two door form as it was a munter with four.

I found the 6 series gran coupe a bit weird, it's the 4 door version of a 2 door version of a 4 door car.

They ought to do a 2 door version of it.

Yes, their estate version of a coupe is worthy of the "niche marketing" award any day!

Mind you, what the hell is a BMW X6 supposed to be?

Would a 2dr A5 Sportback not just be an A5? I thought the Sportback was merely the 4dr version of the coupé.

No because the A5 coupe has a separate boot, a 2dr or 3dr A5 Sportback would have a sloping back with either a hatch or a small lift up boot

Well you learn something new every day. I honestly didn't know the Sportback was a hatch, I just thought the extra two doors made it ugly!

Two door cls would tick so many boxes for me smile

The rear looks a bit Aston Martin but that's not a bad thing. I think though that a 2 door version would take away sales from the 911 as I think the 2 door Panamera looks better.
