New, new beetle?
Discussion
Hey all,
The Mrs likes the new, new beetle, and is interested in buying one. Problem is, we have two kids and I'm 6'5" so have the seat quite far back. Anyone have any experience of these regarding rear legroom? Is it as bad as it looks in the online photos?
Just looking to save myself exposure to the lovely sales people at the local VW garage if it's not worth looking at...
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Why not? All you have to say is "I'm just looking around, thanks." and keep repeating that if they go on.Edited by moebiusuk on Saturday 13th December 22:34

*sigh* so has anyone actually sat in one, then? I could take a trip to the dealer tomorrow, but if I had some insight into the answer to my question this evening, that'd be just lovely...
OK, poster 1 says..... Yup, you'll have no problem, go for it!Meanwhile, poster 2 says..... Nope, it'll be useless for your needs.
What are you going to do?

Go to the dealership. Tomorrow. Meanwhile, poster 2 says..... Nope, it'll be useless for your needs.

But tonight isn't tomorrow - I was hoping someone might have some helpful insight to... you know... answer my question, instead of just being pedantic.

Excellent. If you felt I was being pedantic I apologise. What is good for the goose is rarely good for the gander in my experience. The easiest way is often to experience it for yourself.
I wish you all the best.
For the record I quite like the new Beetle but I suspect a Golf or Leon would be the better choice.
This is what Autocar had to say:

Look in the boot and you’ll find a square-shaped, 310-litre boot, and a 50/50 split rear bench that can be folded. But you can only seat two on that bench, and they’ll find space something of a squeeze if they’re anything over average height.
Also Parkers reviews are normally pretty decent.http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/reviews/volkswagen/b...
My Missus has one - same leg room in the back as a Golf, but less head room as the roof slopes more. Two other things of note - you don't get a rear wash wipe (I assume its because VW think the angle of the rear screen is such that its not required, and to a point they are right) and, as a short arse, I find the front passenger seat a little low as the dash is quite high and flat fronted. Driver's seat is ok as it has height adjust.

Nice one Tim - went to the dealer this morning, and although they only had a convertible, it seemed very similar to a Golf, which is workable.
