A Head Up display just like a Jet Fighter for your car, and only £25...

Completely pointless and probably st. So obviously, I want one.

I've got an app for my phone that will do it, probably with much more in the way of options for configuration. Works OK at night but is almost completely invisible in bright sunlight.

Go on, be a guinea pig for us all. That looks kinda smart really.

Its eBay, if it's a load of toss then you're pretty much covered for getting a refund.

This one comes with a polorised screen, which will give a much better image...

Itd be interesting to know whether polarisation helps much. A polarising filter for my phone would only be a few quid. smile

Ordered one for a giggle, might even get over my one big bug bear on my mini and a lot of other modern cars, no temperature gauge.

Stated to arrived between the 1st and 19th of Jan, having read the reviews on the Amazon site on the one they list I can see a few issues regarding lead placement and a film that needs applying to the windscreen? But see when it turns up.

Had one of these, only way to see them is as they are a cheap piece of crap.

Save your money and put it towards a car that comes with it.

And the film looks really weird on the screen...

Right then a review as the item arrived yesterday Xmas eve.
Fitting is straightforward as its just a case of placing the display on the dash, and plugging the lead into the obd port, there is a small issue in the running of the lead as its aimed mainly for left hand drive car's, if the plug on the display was on the right hand side of the unit, it would make running and hiding the wire a simple affair, but that's a small complaint.
Operation is simple and does work ok for what I wanted it for, mainly as a monitor for the coolant temp, as my car like a lot of modern motors do not have a temperature gauge fitted, which I don't fully understand why, but hey ho.
Main gripe is unfortunately a big one, went to work Xmas eve night at about half six, finished around 1am and came home. Got up for the usual Christmas day revelries, and at about 6pm heard a car alarm sounding outside, looked, but couldn't see any lights flashing on mine or the wife's car, it sounded again so I ventured outside to pinpoint the source, and could see the odb display lighting up on my dash ...yes it was my car that had a flat battery. Seems the odb port on on modern minis is live when the car is locked and not used, so the display was powered up even though appeared off and consuming power, dropped voltage down to 3.8v, so had some fun rooting around my garage for a charger and an extension, and now its trickle charging on the drive.
So to sum up, the unit works ok for a cheap 25 quid eBay special, arrived very quickly from China, but if you do decide you want one, check your obd port is not powered with ignition off.
Boxing back up and will punt it on making clear the circumstances.
