How to see if the M4 will be shut for works?
Discussion
I travel back from Oxford street a couple of time a week about 11pm, some night the M4 is shut at the beginning of the flyover. when it is it is a right bugger to get through the traffic even on a motorbike and can double the time it takes.
If I knew when they were doing it I would just right north on to the A40 then down the M25, touch longer but only a few minutes longer than the clear m4 route.
I check the Highways angency site
http://www.highways.gov.uk/our-road-network/our-ne... and on the map and change the settings to future works (they alsways start at 10pm rather than when I check). Every time I get the impression there is no work then get there and the motorway is shut and it forces you down the a4 (which is also restricted to one lane for the machinery on the motorway).
Am I missing something obvious? I can never find the info online and just roll the dice when I get there.
Any help by those in the know.
