What do people think the likelyhood of selling a car at this time of year is? Traditionally I believe the market for new cars is supposed to be completely flat around Christmas and new year but I wonder if it's the same for used cars? I'm in no huge rush, it can wait until after new year but the sooner I get it gone the sooner I can get my shiny new car!

I would guess that the market for £500 sheds is probably fairly constant year round but not so much for more valuable cars. Also with the new tax rules I guess people will be much more inclined to buy at the beginning of a month than the end, it will certainly save me £43.75 if I get my new car in January as opposed to now.

Ive sold a few cars around this time of year.
Ive found that any interest is usually serious as all the timewasters are busy.

Out of all the months of the year, this is the worst. Having said that, people don't stop buying cars, but it's more out of necessity than fancying a change. Price is everything. You won't have a hope in hell of selling something that's top money and nothing special in terms of desirability. Downside of selling at this time of the year is that buyers will bid low in the hope that you are desperate.
