Strangest breakdowns?

Someone at work was driving to work a couple of days ago, and their car (2008 W204 merc) suddenly lit up the warning lights, made a horrible noise, went into limp mode. Turned out about 10 feet of plastic binding strap had got entangled with the drive belt on the engine.

It had welded itself around the alternator and snapped the drive wheel off it, the drive belt then thrashed around and warped the power steering pump.

£1,400 so far. Happy christmas.
