My car insurance is up for renewal at the end of the week. I've got a clean licence for 10 years and 9 years NCB.

However, at the same time, I'm going to court in the middle of next year for a serious motoring offence. As a result, the renewal prices are going through the roof, although i've not been convicted and will be fighting the charge, or maybe getting the charge reduced to a lesser one.

Some of the big insurance firms like Allianz won't even touch me now.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a company to try to get insured with?

What is the potential conviction?

I'd imagine so!

As certain insurers might be more open to certain offences than others.

This is the frustrating thing, and I've nearly been here myself. Punished by the insurance companies before conviction. Shouldn't be allowed, yet due to the government sponsored insurance cartel swindle of mandatory insurance enforced by law, we can hardly do anything. Once convicted, sure, boost the premiums, not before. Mind you, that is still making you pay twice. The court fines you and then the insurance wants some of that action. Who'd have thought that?? And it isn't a one off, it's 5 years per premium.

Good luck, hope no one got hurt with whatever you did. If it's just a big number case, and not in a busy street I hope you get off.

Yes it most certainly is. The specialist companies obviously cover you on perceived risk and conviction type.

Some specialise in certain types - its called a business model smile So knowing what it is will help spomeone reommend. Some PH members are actually part of those insurers so mtfu and spit it out if you want helping
