Cherokee, Pajero, Explorer...Which is best?

Hi

I am in Kuwait, so fuel costs are not an issue.

We want to purchase a largish 4x4, I have narrowed the search to the above, circa 2002-2004 Cherokee sport and Mitsubishi Pajero (Shogun) ideally the SWB but not many for sale and a circa 2005 Explorer because they are cheap and plentiful.

The 4x4s purpose will be to perch us high on the road, able to brush off knocks and rough roads, occasional excursions into the desert (light use)

Question is, what do I choose? I would just buy a Prado/Landcruiser but the budget won't stretch.

I have never owned a large 4x4 before and not driven the 3 of them yet, I have been told by a friend that a Pajero/Shogun is unstable and unreliable but it terms of overall package, its probably my favourite.

Opinions please!

get the jeep, but try to get a limited for better kit. presumably where you are petrol use isnt an issue, so make sure its the 3.7 V6

explorers are wobbly, not driven the mitsubishi though

Thanks chaps, going to see a 3.7 2002 Cherokee Tonight, its the base Sport but its also cheap so I will see.
