Posted this in SPL by mistake... SO

My darling insurers have decided to pick a company to repair the car which is miles and miles away. Now - they have called me and said they are picking the car up tomorrow. When I asked about a courtesy car, I was told that they have 8 hours for getting the car on site to get me one. Giving the distance and me having no car - I asked if they dropped it off "if we have driver availability". Given tomorrow is xmas eve they almost certainly won't have.

Now - because of the time of year, I think it's going to take a while. Leaving me with no car.

What are my options here? I think you can pick a repairer yourself, but the insurers have already appointed these jokers. So far I'm not overly happy with thme. Why can't they just drop the courtesy car up when they pick mine up...

Any experiences? And I NEED a car over the holidays, without it I won't be able to get to the gym or see family and friends.

If they don't have a driver - and I get a taxi can I claim this back from my insurers? It would be around £100 I think.

At risk of stating the obvious, the only person (entity?) that can answer that is your insurance company. Give them a call.

They sound like a bunch of clowns.
Next door neighbour had her car bumped (perfectly driveable),they collected her car by low loader and the courtesy car was on the low loader.
Same with me (non fault bump, car perfectly driveable),car being collected on 6th Jan by low loader, courtesy car will be on the low loader.

On the phone now - really can't be without a car throughout the holiday period. I just need a straight answer. If I have to I'll pay to hire one myself, but that bites a bit after paying for a courtesy car.

Call insurer, get put through to legal company, then get put through to another claims company, who are checking again with the garage. How many companies does it take to fix a little crash.

Try and establish where the CC comes from first. My company delivers hire cars in these circumstances and we're not linked to any repairer.

It could be your car goes somewhere and the CC comes from somewhere like Enterprise / Avis.
