Hi All...Merry Christmas...

My sister told me she wants a new car and this time it can't be a diesel! Her Audi A6 3.0 TDI has the engine management light which keeps popping up. Garage has cleared it a few times but essentially all her local driving in all about 10k, is messing up the DPF and or the injectors.

So the criteria:

A premium brand (previous cars Mercedes, BMW and Audi)
Large enough to carry 3 kids aged between 5-12 with sport equipment and school stuff
Does not want an estate
Likes the 4x4 soft road format/shape
Prefers automatic
Must be reasonably economic (long term average on the A6 is 34 mpg)

She has mentioned the Audi Q5 and the VW Toureg to me, what else should I be looking at with a petrol engine and auto box??

BMW 3 Series or 5 Series GT? They look a little like dormer bungalow versions of saloons but they might better accommodate loads of sports gear.

Rather than just clearing the fault codes did the garage suggest fixing what is probably the swirl flap linkage sticking?
