Omg ! Just driven for about 6 miles up and down pretty steep hills around sheffield. Amazing. 4x4 on car didn't kick in once ! Just sailed past everyone.

60 Quid well spent. I would have been walking without them .....

Have some too just in case but never tried them. What's the current state of yours now? They're meant to be a temporary solution and will rip over time.

Well they just look exactly like when I put them on. I can't see any wear at all. Fitting them was dead easy. Just pulled over and fitted them from the top of the wheel then move forward a bit and finished.

I was only driving at walking speed though and I don't think they saw any Tarmac. All the roads were totally white over compacted snow.

Car has a haldex 4x4. I do have 2 pairs but just put them on the front. You can feel the haldex when it kicks in and I'm pretty sure it never did so front wheel drive all the way.

I really just couldn't believe how good they were. Amazing !

Their were people I worked with though it was hilarious that I kept them in the back of the car.... I wonder if they are out tonight :-)

I've got some and they are quite amazing.

I've used them on my work/outdoor/hack FWD Astravan Sport a few times and it's pretty much unstoppable as long as the snow isn't too deep (less than about 6-7 inch) any deeper and it starts to be too much to drive over easily due to the limited ground clearance.

I fit my girlfriends car with winter wheels/tyres every winter for her safety and the Astra fitted with snow socks pisses all over it in the snow.

They are the best £60 you can spend for winter IMO and I actually think it should be a requirement to carry some in winter like the French laws enforce. It would stop quite a bit of snow based chaos from everyone getting stuck on a slight slope in 1" of snow and then blocking the road as usually happens in the UK.

They take up less space in the boot of a car than a pair of trainers.

The finest hour of my snow socks was when myself and a chap in a BMW X5 attempted a freezing and snowy hill. I sailed up it without even then traction light coming on, whereas he got halfway and then all 4 of his 19" wheels and standard tyres lost grip and he performed a beautiful slow motion sideways pirouette, and slid gracefully back down the length of the hill into someone's garden wall.

As you can tell... I'm a big fan of snow socks smile

I have to say I giggled like a little kid .... People were looking at me in total amazement ( or thinking total nutter ) as I just sailed along roads that by right I should just have been stuck on like the rest of them ...

They are superb. They get destroyed quickly on tarmac but last a long time in pure snow. You are supposed to slip them off the moment you can see bits of tarmac but people don't bother and so they don't last long on a patchy road.

Only other issue is getting them on to modern RWD cars where the trend is to fill the wheel arch with tyre and so you have no room to get your hand in and get them on.

Yep.

When I fit these I have at least a good fist sized arch gap to get my hand in but I really wouldn't like to try to get them on something where the tyre is pretty much flush with the arch lip.

My local Vauxhall dealer (Garscube Rd, Glasgow) is selling Autosock snow socks for £12 a pair at the moment. Picked up a set for both cars last week - seemed daft not to for that price. Driving from Glasgow to Windermere tomorrow. Hope not to need them but it's nice to know they actually work if I do smile
