Why would you have any of the alternatives when a VW Up! would do the same job for a lot less? Or a fifteen year old Micra etc. etc.

I get the point you're making, I've said more than once Fast Fords are always way overpriced, imo blah blah blah, but a Delorean asta an alternative is even stupider. Hateful cars.

For 40k what wouldn't you buy a very nicely modified R34 Skyline GTR or even an R35?

People advertise them for whatever they like, it may sell, it may not but the RS faithful tend to spend a lot of money to get what they want, then you see the cars up on ramps at shows with a pristine underside with chromed bits.

I think people/dealers with something a bit special are terrified if they sell a car, that means it wasnt expensive enough so they generally double what its really worth and have it sit there.

Objectively of course not, subjectively ...maybe.

The issue with the examples is that they are mostly appealing to different age groups. The child of the 80's who grew up with a poster on the wall of the Escort in the 90's during their teenage years is less likely to consider and old Jag or Corvette (as lovely as they may or may not be) in the same way, in the same manner as it would appear that you are seemingly less likely to choose the Escort.

It's all about perspective.

It does say project somewhere in the listing and for the money I'd prefer a 355 manual but I put 200mph in the search bar and it came up. wink

A car is worth as much as someone is prepared to pay for it. I personally wouldn't put £40,000 into a Cossie, but given the money that fast Fords exchange hands for it's worth a speculative punt.

Do it properly - think what cars you could buy for £20 million rather than an old once-crashed Ferrari wink

Real deal? scratchchin

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1987-FORD-SIERRA-RS-Cosw...

Moonstone blue (arguably the best colour option) Sierra Cosworth for £15,000 less than the Escort pretender. hehe

It would be interesting to know how much (if any!) change you would get from £40k for the Ex Harry Metcalfe Lancia Delta Evo 2 the Integrale being THE defintive rally car of that era....

That 550 is an absolute hound! Something not quite right there, I assumed it was a replica at first
