Suzuki Swift Sport - Mk1 or 2?
Discussion
Depends on your priorities I guess?
Having owned the mk1 and driven the mk2 a few times, I'll try and give a decent answer. They are so close though, it's hard to make a comparison.
Mk2 is basically exactly the same mk1 just a bit more refined. I guess they looked at it and thought 'if it ain't broke...'
The only discernible and usable differences for me were looks, very slightly comfier and a 6th gear with cruise control. The mk1 is still a fairly modern looking thing so looks aren't that much of an issue, with the mk2 looking slightly more masculine. Neither are masculine cars though so doesn't make much difference.
The mk1's only downside is the lack of 6th gear. Short NSL journey's are fine but longer motorway trips were a bit tiresome, with the revs sat at 3-4,000. Never felt like it was straining though, it's a very happy engine. Is that extra gear and CC worth an extra £5-7k though? Probably a no for me, but if long journeys were on the cards I'd consider the newer one.
Both great cars, extremely fun to drive with a cracking revvy engine and gearbox. Wish I'd not sold mine.
