Well, lorry drivers are just like any other drivers, there are bad ones, and there are brilliant ones, I fall into the latter category obviously wink , but in all honesty, if you brake-check a lorry at motorway speeds, or at any other speed for that matter you are not right in the head and should have your licence revoked permanently, it shows a real fundamental lack of understanding vehicle dynamics. The guy in the blue C3 is a retard. Plain and simple.

Seems like quite a small punnishment to me. Dangerous driving usually results in a ban, does it not? It certainly should do in this case, IMO.

The driver of the car is a moron but this "The clip begins as the driver starts overtaking the lorry which then immediately pulls into the middle lane behind the car" begs the question of what happened before to invoke such a reaction, it would help to gauge the scale of the moron.

He was banned for 12 months and told he should re-sit his driving test?

That's putting it mildly.

Even if you were that much of a I'd have still thought doing this to something several times heavier than your car was obviously an extremely risky manoeuvre.

Obviously without seeing the earlier footage we can't make a judgment, but it simply looks like the truck is pulling out to overtake the caravan. Doesn't look like a tighter pull out than any other you see on the motorway every day.
Anything could have happened between the two drivers in the run up to this incident, the only thing we can take from it is that the truck driver wasn't cautioned or prosecuted so presumably the Police viewed all the footage and left it at that.

Why anyone tries to 'teach a lesson' to other road users is beyond me. My view after many years of motorway driving is simply to get out of the way of idiots and go about my own business. Life's too short to waste on getting into conflict with other road users.

This.

There is more to this than we can see, look at the speed at which the lorry driver moves from lane 1 into lane 2, It wasn't a gradual manouvre it was a full on sharp right manouvre plus, the lorry slowed and pulled across, you can see that the closing speed up to the caravan slows quite considerably.

The C3 was being a dick, however there was something going on with the lorry too.

Ah, oops. I missed the 12 month ban bit, I read it as just a retest.

Seems a proportionate penalty then. smile

Brake checking something that's possibly 44t is defo not the wisest choice the car driver made.

And a yrs ban and a retest is a start I suppose.

My old driving instructor, nearly 20 years ago gave me some wise words while learnign with him. 'If a Truck or Bus tries to cut you up, LET THEM. You WILL come off second best'

7.5 tonne van. Usually driven by people without a vocational licence and some of the worse driven vehicles on the road.

What do you know, I had an 'incident' with a C3 driver on the way home just now. Must be a fault with the car... rolleyes

There is almost certainly more to the video than is shown, 7.5 tonners are very often driven badly.

Quite possibly, but whatever the provocation the driver still deserves the ban he got.

I've been brake-tested by a black RRS - AM04 SYM - thinking back at the incident now, I shouldn't have bothered braking, because the tosser tried the same thing again a few weeks later. rolleyes

The driver is an absolute mental-case.

Well the article does state that they'd been "jostling for position", so obviously a degree of fkwittery from both drivers. Brake testing someone like that is a whole other level of retardation mind you - in every sense.

How can you be jostling for position with a truck. Drive at 57mph and you will have whatever position you want. Sounds like one of those moron drivers who cant keep a constant speed and flows constantly between 50 and 60mph.

There may be more to the video but if you watch there is an on-slip to the left, if a car has come barrelling down there the truck may have moved over to let it on, which explains why when the blue car shoots off the truck doesn't instantly move back to lane 1.
