This is probably a bit far fetched but thought I should ask anyway

A car I was interested in on Ebay, someone won it in a no reserve auction but has not made contact with the seller so looks like the winner is a timewaster

But just wondering, if I went and bought the car outside of Ebay but then the auction winner decides he then wants the car as he won the auction, is there anything that can come back on me in terms of him thinking he's entitled to buying the car ? Or is it just between him and the seller to sort it out?

As I said it's probably a bit far fetched for me to be asking that kind of question but I wasn't sure if winning an auction for a car entitles the buyer to any kind of hold over the car etc

Thanks for any advice

He might have won the auction, but if he hasn't made contact in good time, then he loses out. Simple as.

You only get two days in the ebay rules... http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/unpaid-item.ht...

If the ad states "winner to be in touch 24hrs from auction end" or similar and fails the seller may offer it elsewhere and report them as time wasters.

Although the buyer 'won' it, it means naff all. The seller can say it's no longer for sale etc tough titties. Not your problem!
