i have 3 cars (BMW E36 M3, BMW E38 728 and a DB7). all are quite old and combined are worth no more than £20k.
i've been with Adrian Flux for years but is there any way i can have just one policy and one premium as there is only ever one driver....me!
i have to have 3 separate policies and don't get the benefit of spreading my no claims bonus on the other two cars.
i accept that the risk of the two that i am not using could get stolen at any time but it seems daft to pay 3 full insurance premiums when only one can be driven at any one time.

I've spoken to Adrian Flux about this but they have not been much help.

I got some quotes from Admiral for their multicar policy and that just seems a waste of money as you only get what is effectively a 5% - 10% discount on the second and third cars.....

I tend to drive them all at different times and what i want is just one policy covering them all but taking into account that the risk of accident (not necessarily theft) should be much lower as only one is on the road at any one time.

anyone got any suggestions?

I'm on a fleet policy with AIB (02380 268351) for my 550M, Mini JCW, Z4 and 530d. Got agreed values on them all, give them a try. Not any cheaper than the individual policies were, but I didn't have agreed values before

I am sure that some of the specialist do the type of policy you are after but it may only be on classic cars, worth checking though.

I would try the likes of
Footman James
Peter James
AON

Good luck

What about a multicar policy?
Admiral and Direct line do one that I know of, might be worth a look into?

Ive got a Admiral Multicar policy for mine. was very good value for me against two separate policies. would any of your cars qualify for a classic policy and to be against limited mileage ?? as this brought the price down for me for the TVR.

Have 2 cars but I'm the only driver on both policies. When 1st got 2nd car Adrian Flux mirrored my NCD on 2nd car. Stayed with them for a few years until they became to expensive. Been with various different companies since then but for about last 4 years been insured with LV. Got qoutes for multi car policies but were never any cheaper for me. Also as you have a NCD for each policy if you have a claim it will only apply to the policy on which the claim is made. Total cost for both cars about £400p.a.

Have you have looked at limited mileage classic policies. They neither require nor acquire NCB.
If you match the criteria and the limitations suit you, then it can be a cheap way to insure

Home & Legacy do a policy covering multiple vehicles as long as one or two are prestige - with the DB7 should be OK there.

Have seen these to work out as good value as long as you are not too young or high risk area.

Can you not get one main policy and 2 shadow policies?

Clegg Gifford do a 'family fleet' policy, best price I've found.
We have our five cars insured with them with me and Mrs Quikcurl on the policy, the last two cars only cost me the admin fee to add biggrin

Im with Aviva, 3 cars on a multicar policy. They mirrored my full NCD onto my second car and gave me 12 months for the price of 10 plus a hefty discount on the 2nd and 3rd cars. 3rd car is my Mrs so she uses her NCD on that.

thanks for all the replies....a few options to look at there.

i'm 46 - cars are off road at night - I need ins to cover driving to and from work plus visiting clients so i accept the DB7 is out on that front and is on a classic policy already, but amalgamating the other two would be helpful.

Just a bit disappointed Adrian Flux weren't more helpful - been with them for years and spent £000's in premiums but it seems very much 'one policy per car' approach with them.

I'm with aviva also they are usually the cheapest for me and you can add remove cars from the policy at any time via your online account no need to even phone for a change of vehicle mid policy,
I have never had any sort of reasonable quote from flux even on modified cars, they never seem particularly interested

I'm currently insured through AF with two cars but its been three and will be again no doubt; all separate policies but they do take into account the NCB built up on one policy and apply it to others.

Bear in mind that AF is just a broker - they don't insure you so can't offer multi-car policies themselves.

Julian64 - I'd be interested to understand why you make the above statement.

Wife, had 2 Policies, with 2 separate NCB's and is also a named driver on my policy. (I was named on her 2). This was cheaper than classic policies, or multicar policies. However on renewal Adrian Flux wanted too much to insure the MX5, despite it only doing low miles and I've ended up adding it to my Aviva Policy for half the price.
I won't be renewing with Aviva on principle though. About 3 weeks after I did that deal, my son moved from our address to his own, and Aviva wanted 50% more (£700 extra for the remaining 9 months) and he ended up cancelling his policy, and taking out a 12 month policy for less than £700 with someone else.

You have three seperate policies, but only one NCD? Are you sure? If they're seperate policies, you should be building up NCD on each one.

Just taken a multi-policy from Admiral, the initial sales gambit over the phone confirmed I could only use my NCD on one policy. Essentially its an insurance industry con! Funnily enough, when I nearly walked away from the deal this discount was honoured...
