Built in MPG / Car system to add?
Discussion
Hi,
Ive been looking at a few cars but one that has come up is the Twingo 133.
However i have noticed that it doesnt come with some of the things youd get normally such as a MPG/Trip computer?
Is it possible to add in such things as aftermarket kits? or find bits from other Renaults and do it that way?
Ive seen the Renault Monitor but that isnt really what im after although something that size would be good.

ScanGuage is the standard one but there are lots of clones or similar-working ones.
Plugs into the OBD2 diagnostics port so can read most sensor data that is exposed over that - oil/coolant temps, throttle position, wheel speed, rpm, instant MPG, etc.

Plenty of phone apps that would do this u. But dont think you can add anything instaneous mpg.
I've got a phone app that does it instantaneously. Obviously you need an OBD to bluetooth bridge to make it work though. The dongle cost me about £5, the app £2 (there is a free version); it also lets you read and clear fault codes and read/log all sorts of realtime information.

Dongle: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ELM327-Mini-V1-5-OBD2-OB...
(there's loads of them on ebay)
The app is called "Torque", or Torque Pro for the (more configurable) paid one. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org....
ETA: On some cars, the OBD port is active with the ignition off and it's possible to use it to program new keys so I'd be a bit wary of leaving the dongle plugged in unless you know.
ETAA: Also worth noting that people have had problems getting them to work on iPhones. Apple's bluetooth implementation appears to be rubbish.
