Buying a Cat D write off
Discussion
Will be going to view a Cat D car tomorrow at a dealer which i will hopefully purchase but i am put off by the dealer not having any service history or a logbook.
I don't want to purchase the car to then find out it is a Cat C or has a logbook loan attached to it.
I know this is a bit cheeky but could anyone do a HPI check for me?

So, you don't want to get stung but won't pay three quid to potentially avoid that...?
Cat C will be stated on the log book along with VIC details. Finance won't.
Edit: Woah, back up... it's at a dealer... so why's he not checking for you / checked it already?
But still... three quid / cost of a pint.

But i'll happily paypal the amount over to anyone who can do it for me.

Lack of documentation and history is one of the many reasons that Cat C/D cars are cheaper to buy. If you want a full service history, buy a car that hasn't been written off.Feraz said:

Why would a Cat C be out of the question, but a Cat D perfectly acceptable? Makes little sense.Feraz said:

You're quite right, that is cheeky. You are buying the car, how about doing your own HPI?Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
