Just come across this on eBay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2002-Vauxhall-Omega-V6-s...

How were all those police extra's not removed? Or someone retro fitted everything with a strange obsession?

Surely that would invoke a charge of Impersonating a Police Officer if it even drove out of that sales compound? Bar cover or no bar cover, I'm fairly sure you can't drive around with the word 'Police' plastered all over a vehicle!

I'd like to use this for towing my racing car, the 3.2 tows really well and the clever disguise should help get people to move out of my way at 100 mph.

Somebody brings something very similar, so similar I wonder if it is the same car, to Stamford car show every year. He is/was a film prop essentially.

Falls foul of:

RESTRICTIONS ON FITTING BLUE BEACONS TO VEHICLES
REG 16 ROAD VEHICLES LIGHTING REGULATIONS 1968

No vehicle, other than an emergency vehicle, shall be fitted with;

a blue warning beacon or special warning lamp, or

a device which resembles a blue warning beacon or a special warning lamp, whether the same is working or not.

Hence why it comes with a cover for the light bar.....

^^^ This^^^ Probably. The seller is listed living in that part of the world.

Plod have not used these for years, used to have lots of fun with my white, obviously unmarked, Senator years ago. Nearly fooled Yorkshire Constabulary once!!

Interestingly. I followed a Hyundai of some sort yesterday on A41 near Hendon that had all 'Police' wording covered with black tape but roof bar was uncovered.

Assume it was being tested after repair as I think there is a repair facility somewhere in that area.

Bit of digging, looks like it was used for charity events etc by an organisation called "police vehicle enthusiasts club".

Answered my own question I guess!

Look at the pic, once the light bar is covered, there's only one POLICE sign on the bonnet which I guess can be covered. I guess it was stripped back & re-policed without anything on the doors or rear bumper.

The fact it's all battenburg'd up I guess isn't such a legal issue.

Garage I used to use had 2 or 3 ex-prop police cars parked up. They'd been there for years - looked very sad and in need of some tlc.

It's also illegal to have REFLECTIVE batternburg marking, (Hidden somewhere in the lighting regs for emergency veh's)

That wouldn't have left the Police garages like that. It's been restored - the bonnet livery is wrong as is the boot stickers.
I always love the 'Pursuit car' selling point. Firstly, TVP never had any designated pursuit cars, it would have been a general purpose Traffic car that occasionally got involved in pursuits. Secondly, who'd buy a used pursuit car?? Thrashed to within an inch of its life and doubtlessly crashed on numerous occasions!
