I want to lease a BMW and it seems the only BMW dealer that does so is BMW Coventry. (Not sure if this is right).

I want to test drive a couple of models first, and ideally would do it close to the parents' house which is a bit more rural and has some better roads.

Is it not the done thing to book a test drive at a dealers where you have no intention of buying from?

If it is, and I still decide to breach etiquette, do I need to pretend to be thinking about buying?

Or do they not really care?

Thanks for any help.

Tell them your thinking of pcping or leasing the car dependng which deal is better, drive the cars, then when they ring you say you have found s better deal online and invite them to match it.

If not buy online.

Just before Christmas I walked into my local dealer. Asked to look at a 5 series but didn't want to waste time as it would be lease from Lex. "No problem sir there is one in the showroom have a good look".

5 mins later the Dealers 'Local Business Development Manager' walks up, chats with me, sorts me out a test drive in a 520d Lux and an M Sport. Asks me why through Lex. I tell him I get all of our company cars through them and they have a good deal on 520d M Sports at the moment (520d Auto M Sport with Metallic paint).

Anyway cut a long story short.....He now has the order for my next company car 520d M Sport Auto with paddle shift, Met Paint, Sport+ Pack, Pro Nav Pack, Split Rear Seats and it was £180 less a month than the deal from Lex on a model with no options.

Be honest with them, you never know where it will lead.

How expensive was that in the first place? How many miles is that based on and what's the initial payment?

3 years lease, 20K per year, fully Maintained inc Road Fund Licence, Repairs, Servicing, Tyres, Breakdown.

However I HAVE GOT MY FACTS WRONG!! I have just had a look at the quotes and realised the above price difference was for the car specced up the same as my eventual order and with no up front payments, still worked out about a £100 a month cheaper though.

It isn't right. All BMW dealers will offer leasing/PCP deals backed by BMW Finance. Even if a 3rd party lessor is in the frame you can nominate which dealer provides the car - they will have to match the deal offered by the lessor's preferred supplier (if they have one).
