I am a lazy bugger and i despise local radio.

I don't have a sat nav and i can't be bothered looking at my phone.

I want to know if i am going to find traffic delays on my way home.

I would like a website where i can select the roads i use and if there is any the website sends me an e-mail and i can take the backroads

No, but if are able to check your email, can you not leave your phone showing the route, or do you not have a smart phone?

Don't fight technology, embrace it. There's aps for your phone to guide you along the quickest route.

Depends where you live. Hampshire has ROMANSE.ORG who also use Twitter to pass traffic alerts.

Car RDS radios have evolved to the state where you can play your CDs or MP3s or nothing and still get multi-station traffic news without listening to lowest-common-denominator FM advertising.

Waze on your mobile, if you find the motivation to pick it up and look at it, will give you live realtime reports as will the RAC and many other apps.

RDS FM traffic receivers in Garmin sat-navs tend to get their traff-news slowly or not at all but are less distracting than Android apps.

Generally, a combination of all of these works better than a single solution, at the risk of the car interior looking like Currys shop window.

rofl

You don't get it

I get delayed once a month at most

I want something that does not involve me checking a phone twice a day when instead something just flags up

As to finding an app that will find the backroads i doubt it as when i say backroads i am talking just slightly better then a farmtrack

the local bd radio station no longer uses the RDS function so if you want the local traffic info you have to listen to a shouty retard with an awful taste in music

Frankly i would rather sit in stationary traffic then endure that

google now does it with notifications
but it's annoying un customisable you can set home and work, then it occasionally lets to chose places to add it chooses based on places you go

My smart watch displays the expected journey time for my commute. I never asked it to but it does.

Traffic England does RSS feeds, but it sounds as though what you need is a butler.

It's close but OP doesn't want to use a phone. banghead

Google Now & Maps live traffic works better than my sat-nav or RDS radio at producing traffic reports. Tricky to read while driving, though my 'co-pilot' uses it. On a phone.

Is your work PC in your car?

If not and it is in fact at your place of work, why can't you check your route home just before you leave work using google maps (it will tell you traffic situations)? You can set your route home as a bookmark so you could access it as simply as clicking the mouse once, no typing involved!

Stop being such a lazy bugger.

Why would you look at an email but not look at your phone?

Perhaps Mr McBugger doesn't have a phone that does data.
