Hi all,

The locking button on my car key has fallen to pieces, and so I purchased a replacement cover and now I'm struggling to see how I could swap the key blade and the electronics from one to the other.

The body of the case seems a similar size but the point where the blade would fit is slightly different.

I don't want to start bodging it with a stanley knive as I'm a bit of a DIY mong. Would somewhere like Timpsons be able to help?

Any ideas?

I'd just replace the cover (ie the side with the buttons on it) onto your old key- ergo no need to move circuit board or blade.

Turn your key over. Is there a screw?

No, there's no screw, it just clips together.

The problem is that the blade is attached to one half of the cover and the electronic doodads are on the other.

I've just had another look and if with a bit of judicious stanley knife action, I reckon I could shave the little screw knob off and then just switch the circuits over.
