Telegraph said:
A driver caused alarm on the M25 when she stopped in a busy lane - because her fuel light came on. The woman was driving an Audi Q7 on the anti-clockwise carriageway when her 4x4 needed a top up. Apparently panicked because she was not used to driving the vehicle, she came to a halt in lane three of the motorway.

Police were called to the scene, between junctions 6 for Godstone and 5 for Sevenoaks, on Thursday morning having been told a car had broken down. However, the officers soon learned that the true nature of the incident was more bizarre.

A Surrey Police spokesman said: "Her fuel warning light came on so she stopped in lane three as she was confused due it not being a car that she usually drives.

"She was given suitable advice and directions to the nearest garage."

Following the incident, officers from Surrey Police's roads unit took to Twitter to express disbelief.

Suitable advice hopefully being "do this again and face prosecution for dangerous driving"?

She's not alone
I've heard of someone who stopped and pulled over on a DC because a great big petrol pump sign had appeared on the dash accompanied by an incessant beep.
They thought it was saying the car had run out of petrol.
