I'm moving back to the UK and planning to bring my car with me. It's nothing particular special - just a standard RHD Audi A5 (2010).

From what I understand it'll need IVA approval (it was purchased outside the EU), UK registration and plates, and possibly a few tweaks to get it to UK spec.

Can anyone recommend an agent that can help me sort through this and get the car on the road in the UK?

Would you be better off flogging it and buying a UK-spec equivalent?

Don't think so. The great thing is that because I'm relocating back to the UK and bringing it with me, I dont pay any tax.

Costs involved in shipping, IVA, reg etc look fairly cheap (< £3000 all in). Likely I'd lose at least 3 times that if I sold & bought one here, plus the hassle of trying to find one with the spec I want.

We shipped a car from Australia to the UK with a company called ShipfromUK. I would recommend it to you as everything arrived safe and sound. Their website is:

You also need to factor in the car maybe difficult to sell on when you decide to sell as it's an import (be worth less value). Cars have different specs in different territories, usually Euro spec cars have different suspension, spec + under car protection for our weather/salt roads for example. All down to cost cutting.
It's also difficult to verify the history of accidents etc, as HPI will only show when it landed in UK.

Good point - one of the reasons it would be good to get an agent to help, as there are probably some modifications that would be required, even though it should basically be a standard RHD spec car.

Sure. But it's my car that I've had from new, and no plans to sell any time soon (maybe once it's 10 years old, but at that point the difference is probably not that great).
