Looking for a luxury high (ish) performance estate for my daily smoker. Sold my 330d which I loved but needs have changed and now would like 4wd and I don't need it to be economical as such - although that's a bonus if it is.

Criteria

6 or 8 cylinder (don't mind petrol or diesel) at least 200 bhp

Must be 4wd

Luxurious interior

Decent ride handling compromise

Budget 4k max

Under 130 000 miles

Can't think of much that fulfils that lot!

Passat W8, R32 and 2.5 TDi
Legacy 3.0 Spec B
BMW X5 V8, 3.0D

Any body recommend one of the above or something different :0)

Like this one - it's a lot of car for little money

Don't fancy the air suspension on the Allroad, Considered A6's but they have all been to the moon and back for the money I want to spend - 2.7T version seems the best value.

Similar conundrum - thinking of RS6, 535D, A6 Avant of some other large engined flavour, E50/E55 Merc, or just keep my 220k mile 1.9tdi A6 for occasional dog/tip run duty, and get something smaller and nicer for the commute (25k pa). And my budget was up to £8k.

Could an older S6 work on the budget? If not I'd say the A6 4.2, but they are like hen's teeth.

Mpg is dire though - hardly any better than the RS6 so given you really can live with 18-19mpg all the time or 8-11mpg round town or if you are super super lucky you might see an instant reading of 22mpg on the Mway.
To me that level of MPG for this sort of car is just too low.

A car I always wanted but simply couldn't find one when I was in need of a new car.

Merc C36 AMG estate supercharged. So fast so sleeper so rare and a sweet engine.
Damn it I wished I'd bought one

The B6 S4 is available in the OP's budget.
