Hi again,

As mentioned in another post - I picked up an Audi A4 58 plate about a month ago - Since then I have been offered a very sudden promotion which includes a company car for me. Therefore, I don't quite need the Audi anymore. I know it seem's ridiculous but I was blindsided by the company offer.

I just spoke to a dealer who advised me that hardly anyone will buy the car as I have only had it a month and it raises "Suspicions" and that the car is virtually unsellable at the moment.

Is he right?

Anything is sellable at the right price. Just don't expect to get anywhere near what you paid for it.

I suspect there's an element of truth to what the dealer is saying but I'm sure he's exaggerating to try to push the price down. If that dealer doesn't want it, try others or sell it privately.

Don't tell me, he will take it off your hands. :-)

If you explain the reason then you may be ok and find someone who wants it.

I had a very similar thing with my last car - I ended up selling it back to the dealer 2 months after ownership and needless to say I was not offered anything like what I paid.

I think with a valid reason for sale it won't prove too hard at the right price.

I assume that you won't sell until you have the new car?

So then buyers will see the car parked up next to your company car, so your story will be true and it doesn't mean the car was a dog and you are trying to get shot of it.

ETA - Or you know, maybe the car is a dog after all....

Certain that the dealer wont sell it any cheaper despite change of owner after 1 month....sell private,no brainer, genuinely just got a company car? Easy enough to sell especially being a fairly recent 'run of the mill' car.Just put up a good advert and price it well and of it goes.

Supply a redacted letter with your offer on it and then you should only get reamed by the Bid Offer spread the dealers usually require?

Again, if you sell provately this can be explained and backed up to anyone worried.

in your ad explain "I have been offered a very sudden promotion which includes a company car for me". Not hard...

Does the company car/promotion actually exist or do you just want rid of car that has given you a lot of problems? http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Stick it on ebay with a good description and photos and just don't explicitly state you have had it a month

If someone asks, be honest and tell them and the reasoning behind it

As said, you will sell it, but will have to take a hit.

Your black auto A4 that you posted about this morning with the awful pictures and bad description. I tried to reply to you with some advice for the AT ad but it got taken down before I could post it.

Be honest with your reasoning in the advert and a genuine buyer wont care. I've sold cars within weeks of buying them for one reason or another. Always managed to sell on with no issue.

Helps if you have the replacement car sat there on the drive to back up your story too smile Even took a potential buyer of the old car out in the new car for a spin once as he was far more interested in that biggrin

It exists - CG fixed all the issues in regards to the car and it has been running fine since - Brake Pads + Mounts were replaced. Turns out there was no rust in the end.
