Hi,

We purchased a new car for my wife on the 31/12/14, on the same day we taxed it for a year.

After a few days of owning the car it broke down so we returned it to the garage as after an attempt of a fix it didn't work and the car was unsafe and was issued a full refund for the car. Up until this point is was all pretty easy until now we need a refund for remaining months but the log book hadn't been sent off as it was over the new year break.

I am now not sure how we get a refund on the tax as we don't have the car anymore and technically we never owned it in the dvla's eyes as the log book was never sent off. Please help as we are losing money every month and we no longer have the car.

My understanding now is that when the car gets registered again the previous owner will be refunded OUR money?

Please help.....
