If removed from Jersey to the UK mainland it will get 'age related non transferable' plate. If kept on Jersey the plate will remain, assuming it wasn't just a plate for filming the show.

ETA. It's in Hull so must have a UK plate & that is a show plate. Cannot get VED on a Jersey car on Mainland.

No, it isn't. It's a Crown Dependency, but not part of GB or UK.

Oh, I thought he was commenting on the plate being J 1610 or 1610 J ? Rather than the plate being from Jersey.

I think I get it now

J 1610 can only be used in Jersey
If used in say London, then it needs to age related, so they got a plate close to the Jersey plate, 1610 J which I think is 1970/71?

J as in ABC 123J is 1970 but it would be too new for the car, the 1610 J plate would be pre-1963 (1953-1962 codes were number then letter). J is for Durham according to this - Ref: - http://www.cvpg.co.uk/REG.pdf

Which for a 1949 car is also too new! What gives there?
