£6-7K commuter
Discussion
I'm currently in a 2007 Golf GTI, and am looking to change job to one that will involve a much greater commute (possibly 50 miles each way).
So, the Golf currently returns approx 30mpg, so i'm looking to change into a more economical car, possibly a diesel (eurgghh!)
My key requirements are reliability, comfort and a hint of style/prestige.
Open to all suggestions and recommendations.

What's your target mpg for a replacement? Most of the more interesting diesels will do 15-20mpg more than your current car so it's worth doing the maths on cost to change vs keeping what you have.
If you're set on changing, the world is your oyster:
- Golf GTD
- BMW 116d-123d
- Octavia
- Seat Leon
- Focus
- Astra
- Mazda 3
- Volvo V40
- Kia
etc, etc...
