Quick number plate transfer question.. Sorry
Discussion
This is the situation-
I own car 1 & car 2.
I want to move plate from car 1 to car 2. I understand I need to complete V317 'Application to transfer or retain a vehicle registration number form'
Now where I am confused is with a V62 'Application for a vehicle registration certificate'. It says I need to fill one of these out. Why? Is it so car 1 can get a generic number plate? If so do I only need to do this for car 1 or 2 as well?
Finally fees- is it just £80 or is it £80 + £25 (and +£25?)
Really appreciate your help on this as not done this before.

If you have the full V5C for both car 1 and car 2 you don't need a V62. The fee to transfer the reg from one vehicle to another is a standard £80.I own car 1 & car 2.

That's great thanks, with car 2 I only have a new keeper slip. Still just the £80? The chap that sold the car to me sent off the paperwork for the V5 etc as per normal procedure. Should I just wait for the V5 to arrive?Thing is I want to sell car 1 (BMW E38) but want this sorted first.

Car 1 - V5C, MOT cert.
Car 2 - V5C/2, V62 (select the option underneath where it says NOT to pay the £25 fee as you are the new keeper), MOT cert.
V317 & Cheque for £80 to the DVLA.
