Suzuki swift reliability
Discussion
Hi guys
My MiL's ageing Almera has finally carked it. Failed the mot badly on emissions today along with one or two other faults and it's time she got rid and got something else.
She travels around 1.5 miles to work each day and back. Then does the odd 10 miles town road run to visit family at weekends! So, the car gets a tough life.
Amongst another almera, a focus, civic and Corolla or maybe auris I have noticed a few Suzuki swifts pop into budget. She likes the look of them too which helps.
For her modest 2 - 2.5k budget she's looking at an 05-06 car with either the 1.3 or the 1.5 engine.
So, how do these stand up to the abuse? She has zeroed handicap sympathy, it'll never get warmed up and only gets a leg stretch one a year when I takenit for an mot and change the oil for her.
Anyone any experiences?

Only negative I'm afraid, and with a slightly older 03 reg model, although it was new at the time (it was about six months old when it went wrong).
It developed an electrical fault, the dealer burnt part of the wiring loom out whilst working on it (they put a bigger fuse in as the correct one kept blowing ...... honestly).
They then had the car for just over a eighteen months whilst Suzuki made and shipped a new partial loom (she had a loan car the entire time).
When she got the car back it was then two years old, and she part exchanged it the same weekend for a Kia Picanto (which was absolutely faultless for the three years she owned it).
