A nice & very defensive cyclist !

What ho chaps.
I'm normally quite, if not very, anti cyclist, but today I met a very switched on one, and he afforded me priority when the priority was absolutely his.
He was dressed in bright reflective clothing, AND had lights on, ....................during the day.
I'm guessing he's been a cyclist a very long time, and may have had some bad experiences.
I was driving my van to the right of one of those stupid bus lanes, he was cycling in the bus lane as he is entitled to do, I wanted to turn left into a sideroad and indicated , and we both stopped, me because I was aware he was coming up on my nearside (he was actually making better progress than me due to traffic), and him because he obviously assumed I wasn't going to afford him the priority he had.
We see a lot of negativity towards cyclists on here, and I'm one of the contributors quite often, but praise where praise is due, this one wasn't looking to be a martyr or get another piece of headcam film to upload.

Most of us aren't. We are just using the road and following the Highway Code as best we can. As with everything in life, the very few give the rest of us a bad name.

I drive a lot Steve, and it really is very very rare that I see one behaving as you describe, and I witnessed today, their progress seems to be all that matters to the ones I see.Steve

Since driving a van as a daily I've noticed some cyclists are far more switched on around me at traffic lights etc than when in a car - message about blind spots etc must be getting through to some!
I haven't noticed that one, I actually had two lycra warriors who were cycling together, lean on the side of my van, to save putting their feet down I assume, and I kid you not !Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
