So in just over 1 month my wife won't need her car anymore, she will be getting the train to work. The problem is that her insurance runs out in about 1 week. What is the best way to do this?

  • Do insurance companies do policies for short periods of time?
  • Take out a years policy and cancel after a month?
  • Is there another way?
TIA for any help

Speak to her current insurer if you haven't.. I have had temporary insurance (1 month) from Admiral before when I got a new car and transferred the insurance, but needed insurance on the old car while trying to sell. Was about £40 for the month.

Another vote for contacting the current insurer and asking to "add a temporary car".

I too am insured with Admiral Group and it's an extremely useful feature. Costs £21.50 per week and I believe you can have 120 days of temporary cover in any one year. Ditto the ability to add temporary drivers for similar cost, handy when you're under 25 and people don't necessarily have cover to drive other cars.
