Query re no. plate transfer/applying for tax?
Discussion
Gents,
I'm sure somebody will know the answer to this one instantly.
Just bought a vehicle with 5 months remaining tax, since the scheming tax disc change I've simply sent the yellow part of the logbook off as a trader to enable me to use the existing tax with cars I've bought and sold.
This time the car I've just bought is one that's going in my name, the logbook arrived this morning. In order to do a no. plate transfer, am I also going to have to apply for tax on it now that it's in ny name? The car was taxed by the previous owner only in December.
If the answer is yes, I have to pay for tax as well as the transfer fee can I instead do a plate transfer and SORN the car at the same time?
Thank you people!

If the log book has gone into your name then the previous owner will be a issued a refund.
If you put the reg in here https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/ it will show now the vehicle is not taxed I would expect.
To do the plate transfer you must tax it first on the old reg then send the paperwork off.
not sure ref the sorn but phone the DVLA, they are very helpful these days I find.
