So my wife has had the family car to live with for a while now and is now starting to make noises about something smaller. She really likes the fabia vrs which will be difficult to fit our dog, two kids and belongings in on a day, weekend, week away.

This puts my current car an m3 e90 in the firing line to be put up for sale.

So for those who have done this what have you traded in your current fast impractical car for and did you try to retain a small element of fun eg m5 touring, amg estate or something from the audi rs or s stable?

Or did you just got get a fun bus like an smax

Porsche Cayman, Mini Cooper and s-max for kids and dogs.

But then i went back to two cars.
So could you swap m3 for RS4?

You'll never be happy if you sell your soul.

I went from a 968cs to an E39 M5 when the family came along.

Wife's current car is an octavia vrs estate mine is the m3.... She is getting fed up of the size of the estate and wants something a little bit smaller hence the fabia vrs.

I don't mind the vrs estate but it's a long way from my m3 so was hoping of finding something half way perhaps?

Needs to be newer than 2008, less than £ 22k and can be used everyday

This really. S-Max/Galaxy is a properly good family car.

Yes, pound for pound, the S-max was the best car I ever owned. Had it 6 years 80k miles. Serviced it, a few minor repairs, but it was just such a complete family wagon. Honestly I never felt driving it was a chore, kids loved it, wife was happy to drive it because visibility was great and controls light and easy.
