I am picking up my new car on friday.
I have had great fun with it the GT86 but I wanted something a bit quicker and different.
I have gone for Mercedes AMG A45.
I went for two test drives and I was very impressed with how it drove and the performance.
I was looking at a number cars like M135i,Golf R,S3 and the wildcard the Suburu STI.
I know some people will say it is only hatchback and it is alot of money but it ticks all the boxes for me.
I read all the reviews and the ride is the same as my Gt86 and I had no issues with steering feel.
I was going for march build but I asked the dealer if they had any unregistered ones in country near my spec and they did at minimal cost
here is the spec and I got a good deal on the price
White
AMG Sports exhaust system
heated seats
intelligent lighting
AMG steering wheel
Panoramic roof
Mirror pack

I am looking forward to having it

Two consecutive threads I've read that state "alot". Other than that, best of luck with your new car-they do have that AMG knack if sounding rather tasty.

Shame. You're going from an fun, though arguably underpowered rapier of a car, to a obscenely powered super-hatch comparable to a sledgehammer.

Ah well, I'm sure you'll enjoy.

I was overtaken this afternoon by a CLA45 and was amazed at the engine sound. Didn't sound like a 4 pot turbo by any mean.

Enjoy you new toy smile

They do don't they? Contrived it may be but I think they sound utterly hardcore, almost like the tuner specials of my youth (maybe that's what they're going for?).

The CLA does have a touch of the hermit crab about it but I agree, they sound pretty good.....and definitely get a shift on

Anyway OP, enjoy your new choice, I liked the GT86 but the rear was just a bit cramped for my 2 lads

What is wrong with the interior (sat nav excluded) as that is admittedly censored

Can't honestly say the interior is any worse aesthetically than a S3/Golf R/M135i/Megane. The new RS3 has red air vents and carbon effect trim for example.
Megane excluded the seats in particular are massive step above the rest where you just get a normal model seat with slightly different fabric/leather/vinyl.

Hope you enjoy it. I'd be going the other way. I test drove the A45 with the serious of intention of buying it but it just bored me. I was used to the performance after a 350bhp mildly modded Evo. All that was left was a very grippy hatch but no real involvement and a price tag that I just couldn't justify for what was on offer. If you haven't had that level of power before, it does get addictive. Then you realise how little you can use it!
