For some reason I have got into the habit with my current car to take my foot off the accelerator when I change gear.

My belief is that less torque going through the gearbox is more sympathetic on clutch and DMF.

Am I right? Or should I be doing something else?

The clutch and accelerator like it best when they're matched, so either don't touch them or dump them both to the floor at the same time. HTH

yes Double declutching and rev matching is the most sympathetic way to change gear. The most fun, too. driving

Rev matching ftw, I do this in the works van although I'm not sure I'm doing it right. Will find out if the gearbox sts its self.

A blip of throttle or rev to around 2.5k is much healthier in a downchange. Changing up is not so bad

If you aren't using the accelerator to match speeds of gearbox and engine then you are increasing wear on your clutch friction plate.

^ That's what I do, when changing up just slot it out and slot it in the next gear up with a slight pause between.

Am I the only one to think that this is normal? If you didn't you'd ride the clutch everytime you change gear?!

I think he's parodying another thread.
