Hi guys,

Last couple of day I've been experiencing a problem with locking my polo 6n2. First off it started with the key turning around in the lock but i was able to lock the car however tonight the lock is jammed and wont turn an inch. I did hear a kind of breaking sound before it jammed. So know im left with a broken lock and a unlocked car.

I have tried locking the car from the passenger side but that just locks the passenger door and not the rest of the car like it was doing a couple of days.

Thanks

Mr Tom

I had the same problem a few years back. There are some instructions online (try club polo forum). Take the lock barrel out and take it apart. It is spring loaded and exploded into a million pieces all over the kitchen when I did it. Find out bits you need. I needed 2. Ring up vw and they sell them as a whole set or individually. Cost less than £5 to do mine and is a bit overwhelming but I did it and wasn't mechanically minded.

(Before you do any of this try spraying some wd40 in)

Thanks for the reply.

Will this kit be the correct part to sort it out?

I would say it probably will and they look the same as the ones I had. However they don't look genuine VW OEM? For the sake of a fiver it may be worth a shot. The U shaped bit is what broke on mine. If I were you ring up VW and get it from them as they will give you the correct one.

Same used to happen on my Caddy (Mk4 Polo type), the part you posted on EBay is correct, BUT, I'd stump up a little more and get a genuine VAG item, as the eBay one lasted less than 9 months for me.

There are some guides on YouTube on how to replace it.
