Hi,

I'm due new tyres soon for my S70 T5 and am having a hard time making up my mind. I haven't bought tyres for quite a while and since then there seem to be quite a few new options.

The car has Gaz gold coilover suspension which gives a very firm ride. I was looking at the Rainsport 3 tyres as I have read they have very sort sidewalls which might give more ride comfort but wasn't sure if they'd affect the handling?

Anyway my shortlist are: 205 50 16

Uniroyal Rain sport 3
Dunlop Sportmaxx RT sp
Dunlop blueresponse sp
Michelin Pilot Sport 3
Goodyear efficient grip performance

They are all around the same price but I'm not sure if any stand out above the others or if they are all very similar?

Any advice appreciated

I have the Uniroyal RS3's on my Legacy GTB and they have been great, particularly impressive in the wet. If i had spent more for top end tyres i wouldn't have seen any benefit.

I'd go for the PS3 every time from that list - IMO with those mods the ride comfort is never going to be great and traction is the biggest battle with these cars so a bit of squidge in the sidewalls isn't going to be your friend there.

I had them on my S70R which was running IPD ARBs and Bilstien shocks with KW springs and couldn't fault them. They last well too.

I was suprised at the price of the PS3 tyres as a long time ago when I bought them for my e39 m5 they were significantly more expensive than most of the other choices.

I have the PS3s on my BMW and they are fantastic tyres.

Great grip in the dry and loads in the wet too. I put a pair of fronts on 2 years ago and they are down to 5mm after 7000miles, so not too bad for wear.

Plus they look great imo
