Infiniti resale values?
Discussion
We're in the market for a 3-4 yr old family car. I like the look of the EX/Q50 infiniti range but I'm concerned any px value in another 3-4 yrs will be considerably less than if I spent my money on the usual Audi/BMW models.
Is this justified do we think?
For comparable cars the ex and audi cars are the same age but the audi has considerably more miles on it.

Surely if the depreciation on the Infiniti is higher than with the Germans, you'll be spending less in the first place so the absolute depreciation will be similar if not lower?
Still working on this! They are both the same age and price now, (no idea about original cost)but what difference a 8 yr old one of each to a dealer.I'd suspect some although the audi would have reached 100k miles by then.
I don't particularly want the Infiniti but its an option that fits the bill. I just wondered if anyone had been there and had their Infiniti laughed at.
Hi,
I got an QX70d GT Multimedia late October last year, brand new unregistered 64 plate and for 1/3 off... you too might be able to snap up a deal on a new car and with that kind of discount I wont worry much about depreciation, however at the original 45k I probably wouldn't have gone for it (was looking at used cayennes originally). for me, it was a brand new handsome suv for the price of a ropey used cayenne. it's not like the cayenne is twice the car and perhaps the infiniti is a little more fun to drive.
otherwise the car is excellent, I consider it a 370z on stilts, fun to drive and imho looks great in malbec black, and has great standard equipment. build quality is very good too. cant go wrong imho.
just make sure you get a very good discount and 3 years free servicing if possible!!

Like anything unusual you will get bummed if you ever try to PX it or if you try and sell it privately in a hurry. There will be a buyer for it, but it'll take a while. That said at the age you're looking at it may already be enough cheaper than the alternatives that all but giving it away when you are done will be (in £ rather than % terms) no actual loss.
How long do you anticipate keeping it?

I have an FX30d executive. Great car. Coming to end of 3 year term in December so will see what its worth then. It has GFV so if not good will just hand it back. Nice car to drive, gets plenty of looks and is reliable as a Nissan. Not sure what I will replace it with as the FX replacement, QX is the same car as far as I can tell.
