Just been conversing with a guy on Gumtree regarding some M3 parts when he drops into the conversation that he lives in Spain and "nothing sales here" [sic]. he handily has a mate with a transport company that travels back to the UK every week.

FFS.

The ad says he is in London. That's where his second home is, he says.

I'm sad that I have become so cynical that I daren't believe him. For all I know he's telling the truth. But in this day and age there is just no way I would take the risk. As soon as they mention being abroad etc. that's it for me.

Shame as I need the bloody bits.

A bit like the e-mail I received having advertised my car on Pistonheads.

It went something along the lines of 'I want to buy your car, what is your final price. I can pay you tomorrow and pick it up at the weekend'.

Why don't you just offer to pay his mate cash for the parts when they're delivered?

I feel sorry for the actual oil riggers or marine biologists of this country

I bet they can never buy or sell a car!

I bet. It's just too dodgy nowadays if it's not a straightforward, based in the UK transaction. Even then, if you have no form of buyer protection it's often too risky to buy anything.

Guy on here selling a massively under priced E46 M3, stated he was in Durham and when asked said he was in Belgium. Wanted me to pay through Amazon FPS, sent me a legit looking Amazon email from a dodgy address so I strung him along for a while and then told him to fk off. Scumbag.

When it comes to Gumtree I now won't pay any money until I have seen the goods.

Nearly got ripped off for some car parts a while ago. Fortunately I paid by credit card and so all money was retrieved and the individual responsible was traced.

Will be a witness in an associated fraud trial at some point mater this year. Hopefully the bd will go to jail.
