10k budget on a weekend car, what would you have?
Discussion
What are your requirements on seats, running costs, practicality and creature comforts that you are looking for?
Do you want a wafty grand tourer in which case the eight is a good prospect. Love mine and will happily pass on more of my thoughts on running it. Again though there is the jag xk8/r which is another good alternative.
If you want something more special feeling, how about a TVR chimaera, it's bound to put far more smiles on your face than most other cars for the budget. Are you looking for a convertible though? Will the car be garaged? If you want something even more focussed then there are always westfields.
Would you like something new or leaning towards a classic, the cars you've listed are more modern classics. So much choice for your budget!

Just want something interesting to be honest ive got a corsa for the mundane daily drive. Do you want a wafty grand tourer in which case the eight is a good prospect. Interesting and bang for buck = TVR Chimaera.. Start with a 4 litre.. I just love the look of the 8 series, have you got an 840 or 850??
If you want something just to roll out for a blast down country lanes, I'd actually go for an S1 Elise.
But for "normal" use including weekends away and so on, TVR Chimaera wins hands down. I speak as someone who has had one for 15 years now.
The first question I'd ask if if you intend to do track days (in which case go for something lightweight)?
Second question: do you need 4 seats?
If you want 2 seats I'd be looking at an Elise or Boxster.
If 4 seats are required, I would go for a Monaro (slightly biased) or M car of some description.
If I was concerned about running / petrol cost, I might choose a Renault sport in one guise or other.
Just my 2c

Track days dont really intrest me tbh, number of seats not an issue. Running cost not an issue eitherSecond question: do you need 4 seats?

Another vote for the TVR Chimaera. They're pretty reliable as long as they've been looked after. You should get a decent one for £10k, Id buy privately off a long time owner (and did), you ideally want low mileage, a service history thicker than the Yellow Pages and as few owners as possible. There js a huge amount of info on the internet about every conceivable fault and the forum on here is great.
There will always be one or two niggles that you have to forget about, if you just focus on enjoying the thing they are very rewarding and you will generally always get your money back come sale time.

Elise in S1 flavour
This. Stunning handling and purity of drive. And far more practical/useable than a Caterham. A Z4 is a heavy old bloater in comparison. Fine for a daily but a bit lacking in raw excitement for a weekend car IMO.Edited by SidewaysSi on Saturday 31st January 17:20
