Good morning all,

Ive been looking at 986 Porsche Boxsters for a little while and am now in a position to buy. Ive been to look at a few but it got me asking myself a question.

Is a low mileage 13 year old car a better buy over an average mileage 13 year old car?

I looked at a 2002 with 30k miles on it, that means its done less than 3k a year, would i be better off looking for a car thats actually been driven regually with say 60k miles on it. This would save me around £1k too.

Just curisous on people opinions

depends a lot on what mileage you are going to do yourself. If you are only going to do the same few thousand a year then the lower mileage one will keep its value and there may be other benefits like lower service costs, options to extend warranties etc. If you are going to add a lot of miles on you would be better adding it to something that is already a good runner with a lot of work done and good service history rather than a garage queen.

My budget is £9k ish so price isnt and issue, but should I be wary about buying a more expensive car due to low millage thats hasnt been driven that much in its life.

Thats what im now thinking, ill be adding around 10-12k a year to it. Think for once I may actually lower my budget when looking for a car.
