Just renewed my car tax. Not the first time I've done it online but it is the first time since the new rules came into force.

Decided to use the direct debit pay monthly option as I can simply cancel it when I SORN the car in Winter instead of having to apply for refund and make a trip to the bank with a cheque. Little bit more expensive but don't have the capital outlay, simpler to quantify running costs and as said before, saves a trip across town.

How do you eat yours?

£260 all in one big lump. It's the cheapest way and means I don't have to think about it for another year. Same with insurance.

Direct debit. The difference in price is negligible and £500 in one hit seems to hurt more than £43.75 every month.
