2007 W221 and when cold coming to a stop it really jerks down (from 2nd to 1st). Its fine when warm and throughout the rev ranges.

Any experience or advice?

Many thanks

Transmission service (oil & filter)

There's a re-adaption procedure you can do if above doesn't work, can't remember the details but google will.

Probably a software issue, so I suggest starting with proper diagnostics - probably by your friendly local dealer (or expert independent IF he has all the right equipment)

Thanks all. Is Mercworld in Nuneaton recommended?

Sounds like a sticking valve body. I had a saab93 that developed various problems with the autobox including harsh shifting, although mine was like that even when warm. Yours doesnt sound as bad. A fluid change is your first port of call as new fluid may free up the problem. Its not a guaranteed fix though.

Sounds like a oil and filter change at least, maybe even two of them with about 200 miles done between them.

Surely its only in sport mode it enters 1st gear to pull away and to ease to a stop.

I've not used them but they do have a good reputation.
PM me and I have the details of a mobile guy (ex MB maindealer tech) which I've used.
