Hi,

Looking to buy a car - It'll be used as a track car, and not used on the road.

It was Cat C due to damage to the front wing, bonnet and bumper, and has been repaired.

If I buy it, do I need to apply for a new V5, as it's not going back on the road?

How do I prove ownership if there's no V5?

I mean, I know that the V5 is only the details of the registered keeper, not necessarily the owner.

Do I just need a sales receipt to prove ownership?

Yes !!!If its never going to be used on or kept on the public roads then a receipt showing a Vin number would be better than a V5 which isnt anything whatsoever to do with ownership !

Why not apply for the V5, do the vic check and SORN it.

Leaves you with more options should youy ever want to sell.

But as the previous poster statesno you don't need to, just get a Receipt with the vin number on.
