DVLA vehicle enquiries

[quiraing]

I've been trying to trace various cars just out of personal interest but dvla records show no info found. Is there another way to trace vehicles? The cars were owned either by myself or by friends or family. It looks like a lot of data from late 70s early 80s has been lost from dvla records.

Why wouldn't DVLA clear out ancient records of long-scrapped vehicles?
